In co-operation with The Cades Cove Preservation Trust, the BCHM annually hosts the Blount County Heritage Fest, including Civil War Encampment on the grounds of the historic Thomson Brown House. Activities include tours of the Historic Log structure home, tours of the Museum, Vendors selling wares, period food sales (and modern snacks) and reinactors protraying day to day life, military life and period medical practices. On Saturday there is a small skirmish, and the cannon is fired on the hour all day long. Sunday morning there is a period religious service under the trees.
DUE TO COVID-19, we have reduced hours and offer tours by appointment.
We invite you to visit the BCHM. Displays and artifacts of Blount County and surounding area history are always changing and new items and exhibits are added regularly.
